Obour Foods Where to Buy
← Obour Foods Zero preservatives

No preservatives. Just made fresh.

Nothing in our jars is there to make them last longer. No potassium sorbate, no sodium benzoate, no stabilizers or gums, and no vinegar, citric acid or lemon juice concentrate to bring the pH down. Our hummus and toum get their tang from fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice, and we make everything fresh every week.

How we keep it fresh

Made fresh, kept cold, sold fast.

EVERY WEEK

Made every week

We cook chickpeas, grind tahini and whip toum in our own San Francisco kitchen every week, in small batches.

Jars of Obour hummus and toum packed in ice

Kept cold the whole way

Hummus and toum stay refrigerated from our kitchen to the store, delivered by our own team on our own trucks.

A wall of stacked Obour glass jars

Sealed in glass

Every jar is glass, washed and sanitized before it's filled, including the ones you bring back to us.

Honest dates

Hummus keeps for 10 days, toum for 8 weeks and pita chips for 12 weeks from when they're made. Tahini is shelf-stable. Check the best-by date on the jar or tub.

The trade-off

A shorter shelf life, on purpose.

Preservatives are there to stretch shelf life. We'd rather make less, more often, and get it to you while it still tastes like it was just made. Keep hummus and toum in the fridge, and stir tahini before you use it.
