Your privacy.
What we collect when you use obourfoods.com, order ahead for pickup, or contact us on Instagram and Facebook, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Effective October 21, 2026.
Who we are
Obour Foods, LLC makes hummus, toum, tahini and pita chips in San Francisco. This policy covers obourfoods.com and our Instagram (@obourfoods) and Facebook accounts. When you order through Good Eggs, DoorDash, Instacart or a store's own site, their privacy policies apply to that order.
What we collect
What you send us. When you use a form on this site, we receive what you type in:
- Contact form: your name, email, topic and message.
- Wholesale and sell sheet requests: your name, business, website, email, phone and message.
- Wholesale account application: your business details, the products you'd like, contact names, emails and phone numbers, delivery address and receiving hours, accounts payable contact, billing address and how you'd like to pay. We never ask for card or bank numbers on this site.
Pre-orders. When you order ahead for pickup at a market or the Ferry Building, we receive your name, mobile number, email if you give it, what you ordered, and where and when you'll pick it up. You pay on Square's own checkout page: we never see your card number.
If you email us, we keep the email and your address.
Comments and messages on our social accounts. When you comment on an @obourfoods Instagram post or on our Facebook Page, or send us a direct message, Meta makes it available to the tool our team uses to read and answer them: your username or name, what you wrote, when, and the post or story it relates to. We use it only to reply to you and keep track of what's been answered. That tool keeps direct messages for up to 2 days and comments for a few minutes before reloading them from Meta, and only our team can see it. Meta keeps the originals under its own privacy policy.
How you use the site. We use PostHog, an analytics service, to see which pages people visit and how they use them: pages viewed, clicks and scrolling, the site you came from, your browser and device type, and an approximate location based on your IP address. PostHog keeps a random visitor ID in your browser's local storage so return visits can be counted. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't use this information to identify you.
Basic technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) handles your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Pages with a map, and our web fonts, load from the map and font providers named below, which also see your IP address.
How we use it
- To answer your questions and requests, including comments and messages on Instagram and Facebook, and send the sell sheet when you ask for it.
- To review wholesale applications, set up accounts, schedule deliveries and send invoices.
- To prepare your pre-order, hand it to you at pickup, and text you about it if you asked us to.
- To understand which pages help people and to improve the site.
- To keep the site and our forms secure and free of spam.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own advertising.
Text messages
If you tick "Text me order updates" when you order ahead, we use your mobile number only to text you about that order: that it's in, that it's set aside, a pickup-day reminder, and if we can't fill it. We don't send marketing texts. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help. The full terms are on our text message terms page.
Who we share it with
Only with service providers that help us run the business, and only for that purpose:
- Google Workspace: our email, and the tools that receive and record form submissions.
- PostHog: website analytics.
- Cloudflare: hosting and security for this site and for our team's internal tools.
- Meta (Instagram and Facebook): comments and messages you send our accounts come to us through Meta, and our replies go back through Meta.
- Bill.com: invoices for wholesale accounts.
- Square: payment for pre-orders, on Square's own checkout page.
- Twilio: sends the order update texts you asked for, and only those.
- OpenFreeMap, jsDelivr and Google Fonts: map tiles, map code and fonts that your browser loads directly.
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and applications for as long as we need them to work with you and to keep normal business records, and then delete them. Analytics data is kept in aggregate to see how the site is used over time.
Your choices
- Email [email protected] to ask what information we have about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. We'll reply within 30 days.
- Deleting your comments and messages: delete the comment or message in Instagram or Facebook, and it's gone from our tools within 2 days. You can also email us and we'll delete any copy we have.
- You can block analytics with your browser's privacy settings or a content blocker. The site works the same without it.
- Our site doesn't change how it works in response to "Do Not Track" browser signals, since there's no common standard for them.
If you live in California, you may have extra rights under California law, including the right to know, correct and delete your personal information. You can use them by emailing us, and we won't treat you differently for doing so.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards: the site runs over HTTPS, and only our team can see form submissions. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send sensitive details like card or bank numbers through our forms or email.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
