Gochujang Toum

Toum meets Korean fermented chile: savory, sweet and spicy. Our garlic toum is blended with a fermented chile paste of red chiles, soybeans, koji and dates, which gives it deep umami and a heat that builds gently. Customers call it one of the best sauces they've ever had. Try it on fried chicken, rice bowls, burgers or dumplings.

What's in the jar

Olive oil. No seed oils. No stabilizers.

Olive oil is hard to whip into toum, so almost every brand on the shelf uses canola oil instead, and many add citric acid or xanthan gum to hold it together. We don't. Our toum is made with olive oil, and the garlic does the holding.

Most store-bought toum

  • Canola or another seed oil
  • Often citric acid or xanthan gum to keep it stable

Obour toum

  • Olive oil only. Never seed oils
  • No stabilizers, gums or preservatives
  • Organic garlic and organic lemon juice
  • Whipped in our San Francisco kitchen

Gochujang toum, every ingredient: olive oil, water, organic garlic, organic lemon juice, organic dates, red chili peppers, salt, organic soybeans, organic koji.
